NAIDOC by the Lake: Singing Our Culture
Everyone’s invited to NAIDOC by the Lake: Singing Our Culture - a free, family friendly celebration at Belconnen Arts Centre on the shores of Lake Ginninderra to celebrate NAIDOC Week.
Enjoy performances, food and art stalls, a jumping castle, film screenings and hands-on craft activities. If you fancy trying your hand at traditional weaving, join in the weaving circle. If stories are more your thing, sit around the camp-fire with Julie Freeman from Galamban. If you’re drawn to the silver-screen, you’ll enjoy acclaimed film-maker Richard Jameson’s curated program of local films by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander film-makers. Performances will range from traditional to contemporary, with Aboriginal dance, music and story from Wiradjuri Echoes, Torres Strait Islander dancers, fresh Hip Hop and more.
Join in this first ever NAIDOC celebration by Lake Ginninderra. This collaborative event is brought to you by West Belconnen Child and Family Centre, Belconnen Arts Centre, Belconnen Community Service and UnitingCare Kippax.
