Canberra Writers Festival
Bestselling author Kathy Lette, Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh and number one international bestselling author Matthew Reilly – in his only Australian writer’s festival appearance in 2018 – lead an all-star cast of local, national and international writers, journalists, intellectual heavyweights, incisive charmers and hilarious raconteurs at the third annual Canberra Writers Festival from August 23 to 26.
From the scintillating opening night celebrating Australian culinary icon Maggie Beer to the outrageously funny Girls' Night In closing night event featuring Kathy Lette, Jean Kittson, Annabel Crabb, Nikki Gemmel and Bridie Jabour, the festival promises to be hilarious and incisive.
From back door political deals and fiascos to the secrets of the dark web; from powerful transgender stories to Indigenous recognition; from nostalgia and family to children’s books and a Book Swap fundraiser for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation: the Canberra Writers Festival is designed to offer something for everyone.
The Canberra Writers Festival is hosted at Canberra’s iconic venues the Australian National University, the Museum of Australian Democracy, the National Portrait Gallery, the National Museum of Australia, the National Library of Australia and the National Press Club.
